With 2018 at its close, it’s time that we come together to acknowledge the phenomenal work that our community has completed. Healthy Communities will be hosting it’s annual celebration to reflect on the work completed, recognize some of our outstanding community members, and to learn about the health priorities that Eau Claire residents have identified.
This annual celebration is an evening to connect with fellow community members and applaud those who have worked to promote healthy living in Eau Claire during the past year. They rolled their sleeves up and put forth extra energy to help make Eau Claire a vibrant place to live, play, and work. Each year we would like to thank a few individuals and organizations in particular: our Healthy Communities Champions! We ask you, our community members, to nominate an individual or organization that continues to promote healthy living in Eau Claire. Please take a moment to complete and submit a nomination form by email or mail to the address listed in the application instructions. All applications are due Friday, March 29th! Awards will be presented to recipients at the celebration.
In addition to connecting with community members and celebrating successes, we also present this evening as an opportunity to become more informed on issues that are identified by our community members. Alcohol and substance abuse has recently been flagged as a high priority concern and Healthy Communities has taken notice. In an effort to support efforts to reduce the impacts of substance abuse, Healthy Communities has recently partnered with the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (Alliance). To help us understand more of the problems our community faces with substance abuse, we will also be hosting an interactive, informational session during the celebration. More information will be presented at a later date.
We extend an invitation to all of our community members to celebrate with us, take an opportunity to learn about the local impacts of substance abuse, and to connect with others to continue advancing Eau Claire as a healthy community.
The Eau Claire Healthy Communities Celebration will be taking place on Thursday, April 25th from 5:15 to 7:30pm in Room 103A/B of the Chippewa Valley Technical College Business Education Center, 620 West Clairemont Avenue, Eau Claire.
