During Children’s Dental Health month, Eau Claire Healthy Communities sponsored a dental poster contest. The contest was for 4th and 5th grade students in Eau Claire County schools. Students were challenged to design a poster promoting good dental health using the contest theme. The theme was, “Brush and clean in between to build a healthy smile”.
Despite the bad weather and all the snow days, 117 posters from Altoona, Augusta, and Eau Claire were turned in! The Action Team awarded 16 prizes of a water bottle and Oral-B power toothbrush to the top winners in each school. The posters are currently on display at local libraries and Eau Claire Healthy Communities website.
“It is critical to establish healthy habits and attitudes at an early age,” says Katie Pospishil, Co-Chair of the Oral Health Promotion Action Team. “Teeth are meant to last a lifetime. With proper care, a balanced diet and regular dental visits, teeth can remain healthy and strong,” adds Pospishil.
